Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) 

Traverse Independence ensures that its policies, procedures, practices and attitudes respect the principles of dignity, integration and equal access for all people, including those with disabilities. Our mission is to maximize our clients' abilities to live independently by providing support services for adults with a physical disability or a brain injury . In fulfilling our mission, Traverse Independence strives, at all times, to serve its clients by providing a range of quality services that promote independence. We are committed to serving all members of the public in a way that respects their dignity and independence, and allows equal access to services. Our employees and volunteers receive training on accessible customer service; a training record is available on request.

Traverse Independence meets or exceeds the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities standards established by the Ontario government. Accessibility standards are the rules that businesses and organizations in Ontario have to follow to identify, remove and prevent barriers to accessibility. Ontario has developed standards in many important areas of life including: Customer service, Employment, Information and communications , Public transportation and Built environment (buildings and other structures). Traverse Independence complies with all AODA Employment standards.

Accessible Formats and Communication Supports

Please Email Us or contact us at 519-741-5845 if you wish to receive a copy of our accessibility policies, our multi-year accessibility plan, the steps we would take in connection with a temporary service disruption, or if you require documents or information in a different format that is more accessible to you. We will discuss with you how we can meet your needs.

Traverse Independence is committed to providing or arranging accessible formats and communication supports for any persons with disabilities following consultation, in a timely manner that considers the person’s individual accessibility needs due to disability. Traverse Independence commits to providing the accessible formats and/or services at a cost that is no more than the regular cost charged to others.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that we are located on the Haldimand Tract, traditional and unceded territory of the Anishnaabe, Haudenosaunee and Neutral Peoples. It encompasses 980,000 acres of land that was given to the Six Nations in 1784, 10 kilometers on each side of the Grand River.
